Logons
The default password for UQ student accounts is NNXXX$SS where
NN = date of birth (ie my birthday is 16th July, XX=16)
XXX = first three letters of the month of my birthday (ie. jul)
Note : the Prentice centre handout states this is supposed to be case sensitive, but it doesn't appear to be.
SS = first two letters of my surname. (ie For Peter Jones, SS = jo)
Parking
Students are eligable for Green zone parking permits. The nearest green zone parking to our labs & common room
is on William Mcgregor Drive behind Duchesne college. (beats parking in the dustbowel and finding a filthy car
at the end of the day.
Parking permits can be purchased as annual, 1st semester, 2nd semester or 3rd semester permits. The annual
permit runs for a calender year from January. Due to the MiT course running over July to June we
are eligable for an "annual" permit that is purchased as a second semester permit now, then
transferred to an 3rd semester and 1st semester (year 2000). For now you only need to get a 2nd semester
permit. You will need to show enrolment for course to Parking office, located on 7th floor of the admin building.
(not really that complicated, they are expecting you :) )
NB : the uni parking officers do issue parking tickets and they are not cheap!!
